How CNP Assurances is taking control of their digital environmental impact
CNP Assurances is a major insurance group operating in France and internationally, with 36 million policyholders and over €23 billion invested in green funds. Already deeply engaged in corporate social responsibility, the company wanted to extend this commitment to its digital services.
The goal: structure a responsible IT approach aligned with its purpose, values, and CSR strategy — while preparing for upcoming reporting requirements like the CSRD.
About
CNP Assurances is a leading player in the French personal insurance market, operating in 19 countries in Europe, particularly in Italy, and in Latin America, with a strong presence in Brazil, its second largest market.
Challenge
The project began with no existing measurement framework or dedicated internal expertise on digital environmental impacts. Teams had to build everything from scratch while staying focused on action and impact.
Key needs quickly emerged:
Getting fast, concrete results to engage internal stakeholders
Using a solution that was simple to roll out and easy to use
Ensuring compatibility with existing tools, especially ServiceNow
The IT department and sustainability team also had to work closely together from day one — not as separate tracks, but as a joint effort.
Solution
CNP Assurances selected Aguaro based on its ability to deliver early, actionable results and integrate seamlessly into their ServiceNow environment.
Implementation of a unified measurement framework covering IT, infrastructure, and digital workplaces
Direct connection to the CMDB and integration of multiple internal data sources
Dedicated support to help teams onboard the methodology and understand emission factors
First footprint completed within six months, based on 2023 data
Strong engagement from internal teams, especially around data quality and CMDB improvement
This first step also helped lay the groundwork for long-term alignment between digital, CSR, and procurement strategies.
Results
A consolidated footprint covering IT, infrastructure, and user environments
Operational indicators used to steer the Green IT strategy and inform CSRD-aligned reporting
Concrete use cases launched, including carbon modeling for a computing cluster
A responsible IT purchasing approach initiated — starting with refurbished hardware
A shared governance model between IT and CSR teams, now scaling across the La Poste group
